Marcus Samuelsson 10-Piece Stainless Steel Cookware Set Review

Marcus Samuelsson 10-Piece Stainless Steel Cookware Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased the 10-piece stainless steel cookware set and a 10" open stock skillet about one month ago. My wife and I have been very pleased with this cookware. Our previous cookware was Calphalon Commercial Hard Anodized, made in Toledo, Ohio. We were very pleased with the Calphalon cookware. In fact we have given those pots and pans to our sons for their own kitchens. However, I wanted to switch to multi-ply stainless steel cookware for some time. Our previous hard anodized aluminum cookware responded very quickly to changes in temperatures. However, my wife and I have found that multi-ply stainless steel heats up and cools down slightly slower than hard anodized aluminum. In fact these multi-ply pans retain heat more like cast iron. Following the directions to use medium heat settings has given us very good results. Soaking in water and using Bar Keepers Friend stainless steel cleaner has made clean up very easy.
It was very important for me to purchase cookware made in the U.S.A. or to be more accurate, I wanted to avoid "Made in China" cookware. I'm not opposed to Chinese cookware. I just have found, in my research, that current Chinese made cookware lacks consistent quality control. I considered All-Clad stainless steel, however the price was prohibitively high. When I discovered Marcus cookware made in U.S.A. by Regal Ware, I was excited that the price was easier on the wallet. I had some questions about this cookware and sent emails to Regal Ware. Chris Robason, National Sales Manager for Regal Ware, answered each of my emails very promptly. He assured me that Marcus Cookware, including the lids, were made in West Bend, Wisconsin. Also, he informed me that Regal Ware is going to add open stock pieces to the Marcus/Unity line of cookware. The Regal Ware website already shows a new 12" saute pan has been added to this line of cookware.
The Marcus/Unity cookware is very high quality. The stainless steel, aluminum tri-ply construction heats evenly, is very sturdy, and has good, balanced weight. The brushed, stainless steel handles are very comfortable. I really like the helper handles on the sauce pans. The lids fit very well and have enough weight to sit firmly on the pans. Also, knowing that Regal Ware is going to add more pieces of cookware to the Marcus/Unity line shows their commitment to providing quality, reasonably priced, American made products. The only improvement I would recommend, is to add a rolled edge to the pans for easier pouring.
**Update** The Marcus Cookware by Regal Ware has been replaced by American Kitchen Tri-Ply by Regal Ware. I was informed by Regal Ware, that the new American Kitchen Tri-Ply cookware is identical to the Marcus Cookware. I noticed on the Regal Ware website that a 12" / 30cm Covered Sauté Pan, a 3 QT / 2.8L Covered Every Day Pan, and a 3 QT / 2.8L Steamer insert has been added to the new American Kitchen Tri-Ply collection. I also noticed that the 2 QT / 1.9L Covered Sauce Pan no longer has a helper handle that was on the Marcus cookware version of this pan. In my opinion, the lack of a helper handle isn't really necessary on this small pan.

Emeril Stainless Steel Saucepans Review

Emeril Stainless Steel Saucepans

I just received this item from Amazon and wanted to give my initial impression. I bought a set of Emeril cookware from BBB over 2 years ago. It has stood up very well and I have been very pleased. So much so I wanted to expand my collection. This piece arrived and almost immediately upon opening it I realized it was not of the same quality as my existing pieces. The metal is noticeably thinner. The lip gave it away for me. I felt along the lip and realized it was rolled over to give it the appearance of being thicker. None of my existing pieces are rolled like this. Holding it along side an older 3Qt piece I can tell it is lighter. I just fear that like many products that were once of very high quality, corners may have been cut to increase profits. Can't blame them, but buyer beware - ymmv.
I must state that I haven't yet cooked with it or cleaned it. I hope to revisit this review once I have done so.

Revere 7-Piece 18/10 Stainless Steel Tri-Ply Bottom Cookware Set Review

Revere 7-Piece 18/10 Stainless Steel Tri-Ply Bottom Cookware Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had this set of pans for ten years now, and they have served me well. In fact, they are still just as good as new. Before that, I used non-stick pans but never again. They just begin to flake, and you have to be so careful about the utensils you use. I regularly use the 10 inch skillet to make scrambled eggs in, with virtually no sticking. You just let the pan get hot before pouring in the eggs and use a good stainless steel spatula. The customer service has been excellent with these pans. After about nine years, one of the lid pulls came off and customer service sent out a new one--no problem. These pans are also very durable and easy to clean. I have been known to burn things and after one mishap, my husband said, "you might as well throw the pan away. You are never going to get that clean." I just used a little steel wool and it was as good as new. You can't do that with non-stick. If you are just starting out, on a limited budget, and want a good set of pans that will last you quite some time, this is the set to buy.

Emeril Stainless Steel Cookware Sets Review

Emeril Stainless Steel Cookware Sets
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had the 10 piece set for a little over a month now, and I can honestly say I love it! And let me tell you, I cook ALL the time - 7 days a week, and at least 2-3 meals a day. So figure I have used these pots/pans at least 60 times by now. I have cooked everything from rice to steaks to vegetables, soups, pastas, sauces, and even things as delicate as eggs! The bottom heats very evenly, and quickly, and the handles DO NOT get hot, which was very surprising for me. Before I purchased, I was willing to accept the fact that I was more than likely going to have to deal with hot handles, as is the case with most stainless steel cookware, but with these I was pleasantly surprised. Even after being on the stove over high heat for a long period of time, the handles are still cool! But that is not to be confused with the handles on the lids - I find that the handles on the lids may become very warm after prolonged exposure to heat, but that it is generally to be expected if lid handles are not rubber coated, but that doesn't bother me in the least.
To me, the weight of each individual piece of cookware is just perfect - heavy enough to feel sturdy and durable, but light enough for me to comfortably lift and move them with one hand while cooking (assuming I don't have something heavy in them). That is something that was very important when considering cookware. I know a lot of people say "the heavier, the better, because that means it is better quality"...but seriously, I don't want to have to use 2 hands and develop forearms like Popeye just to lift a pan from one burner to another. Yeah, I need something durable and practical, and this set is it for me.
To the person saying that the lids do not fit correctly, I have had no problems with rice(or steaming vegetables and such)cooking properly. From my experience, the lids keep the moisture in very well.
And to anyone who has never owned a stainless steel cookware set, and is hesitating because of the "NOT non-stick" factor - here is a tip that converted me to stainless steel forever - heat the SS pan directly on the burner, and get it nice and hot - to the point where if you put a drop or two of water directly in the pan, it will bead up and dance and glide around bottom. When it gets to that point, remove from the heat source, (or you can turn down the heat while it is still on the burner, but it will take longer), and let it cool off slightly - enough to where it wouldn't burn butter if you added it. Return back to the burner and turn heat down to medium(more or less, depending upon what you are cooking), add your butter/oil, and whatever you are cooking, and Voila! - non-stick! It has to do with getting the pan getting so hot that the heat causes the metal to microscopically expand and fills up the tiny pores in the steel that food would normally sink into while cooking (sticking). But then you have to to turn it down to your actual cooking temp so things do not burn, and while doing so, the steel will remain expanded until the pan is completely cooled. That is advice passed on from experienced, professional chefs.
Anyway, overall, this set is beautiful, functional, and of great quality. Even "if" this set wears out in 10 to 30+ years down the road, I will definitely be buying another one.

All-Clad Stainless 12-Quart Tall Stock Pot with Lid Review

All-Clad Stainless 12-Quart Tall Stock Pot with Lid
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have never felt more skeptical about buying a product so expensive but when I saw there was a used item selling for $240 by Warehouse Deals, my jaw dropped and I snagged it. I felt like the luckiest man in the world.
All-Clad doesn't disappoint with its reputation for quality: this pot simmers stock to perfection, looks beautiful, and will last many lifetimes. I only thought it would be taller, despite its title as a "tall" stock pot: I measured and found it to be slightly wider than it is tall. I was expecting it to be taller than it was wide, but this was never the case with all 12 quart stockpots I bought and measured.
Don't fear All-Clad's prices. Their products are meant to last lifetimes. Also, look for Warehouse Deals selling used pieces of cookware that were never touched. Most people won't be as lucky as me finding 40% off of a product like this, but stay on your toes nonetheless.

This pan along with several others I have acquired from the Calphalon Tri-Ply line is fantastic. Great weight and balance, superb craftsmanship, the glass lids fit snugly and most important of all, the pricing is terrific. I have All-Clad and yes, it is wonderful but quite frankly I find myself asking why spend more when you can get equal quality for quite a bit less. And it is still made in U.S.A.!

BonJour Copper Clad 10-Piece Cookware Set Review

BonJour Copper Clad 10-Piece Cookware Set

I got this set for Christmas last year and have used them heavily. I replaced a set of Wearever that I bought from a friend who was selling them door-to-door in the 1960's. They were heavy aluminum lined with stainless and wonderful to cook with, but they were showing their age and my new kitchen needed something really good looking on the stove in the island. These cook as well or better than my old pans. They are identical in cooking characteristics to the two pieces of AllClad with copper that I also have. And, they are drop dead beautiful! They still look new after a year of heavy use; the insides polish up nicely with Bar Keepers Friend.

The time-honored tradition and attention to detail make BonJour's cookware a perfect fit for the culinarily adventurous--and why it's used in the famed Le Jules Vernes restaurant at the Eiffel Tower in Paris. With its bold silhouettes, generously appointed fittings and exceptional performance, they will be your favored culinary tools as well. This 10-piece copper clad cookware set includes 1-1/2- and 3-quart saucepans (each with lid), 3-quart saute pan (with lid), 8-quart stockpot (with lid), and 8- and 10-inch open skillets.
Clad metal construction is the preferred fabrication by professional and home chefs alike. The interior layer of each pan is crafted of pure 18/10 stainless steel which is non-reactive and doesn't adversely affect the flavor of delicate ingredients or subtle sauces. The exterior is made of magnetized steel which is induction suitable and polished to a beautiful mirror finish. The key to clad cookware is the heat conductive metal core layered in between the stainless steel throughout the entire pan, and the Thermo-Enhanced Base is 44 percent thicker than traditional copper core cookware providing superior heat distribution control. The high domed lids provide extra capacity and fit snugly to create a self-blasting oven which seals in flavor and nutrients. The cast stainless steel handles are ergonomically designed for comfort and permanently riveted to withstand the rigors of restaurant use. Dishwasher safe. Backed by a lifetime guarantee.

Le Creuset 3-Ply Stainless-Steel 8-Piece Cookware Set Review

Le Creuset 3-Ply Stainless-Steel 8-Piece Cookware Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I looked at different brands of stainless cookware before purchasing my LeCreuset and here are some of the features the others don't have that sold me on the LeCreuset. The pans nest evenly inside one another. The design of the handle allows the lid to fit into the handle. These pans are heavy - the extra handle is a big bonus when you have a full heavy pan to lift or move. I love the stainless lids that come with this cookware. The steamer insert (purchased separately) fits THREE different sizes of pans, comes with it's own glass lid, too. All of the pots have measurements on the inside walls for easy measuring (especially when reducing liquid).
This cookware, heats and cooks everything very evenly. These pans are very easy to use and clean. I have experienced some bluish discoloration that I am not happy with, but I am assured that it is only cosmetic and does not adversely affect the cookware.
This is great cookware, designed to last a lifetime of good hard use in the kitchen. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for excellent quality clad stainless cookware.

This is an excellent skillet that requires very low heat for cooking, and cleanup is a breeze. I have the regular cuisinart multiclad set, which is awesome, but I no longer use those skillets since purchasing this one. No more Barkeepers Friend and scouring required. It is off the stove, cool down and wash with dish soap and warm water. I have had no problem with bits of teflon flaking off.
I would highly recommend this skillet to anyone looking.

All-Clad Master Chef 2 7-Piece Cookware Set Review

All-Clad Master Chef 2 7-Piece Cookware Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
These pans are awesome. That's my opinion but my opinion doesn't mean much because I've never owned anything else. So, let me tell you what my concerns were before buying and why it ended up so great.
Concern 1: Stick & Burn
I cook a lot but I'm always in a hurry. Young, single guy on a budget. I need to cook quickly. For this reason, I had almost gone with non-stick. Most likely hard-anodized. That would have been a mistake. Stick is non-existent with these pans. First thing I did was to take out the 8" frying pan and fry and egg, the ultimate test of stick. I listened to the reviews. Let the pan heat up first, add the butter, then the egg. I nervously went for the flip expecting the egg to be stuck, but it was so slick it almost hit the ceiling when I flipped it. The egg came out perfect and the pan was clean as new with some hot water and dish soap. I never thought I'd have such a stupid grin from flipping an egg. I've heard quality has a huge affect on the stickiness of stainless and this is obviously quality.
Concern 2: Use & Cleanup
Before this set, I cooked mostly with cast iron (and some horribly old teflon, but we won't talk about that). Cast iron was great, but the cleanup was terrible, the pans were so heavy and don't even get me started on the seasoning. Not to mention you can't use acids in cast iron. With my new stuff, all of that is thrown out the window. They are light enough to work with easily, transfering from stove-top to oven. And cleanup is a breeze. I haven't cooked anything yet that hasn't come up with hot water and dish soap. There are odd-colored stains here and there from use, but those are removed easily with Bar Keepers friend. Other than that, they are idiot proof, which is great for me making bacon and eggs drunk at 4 am. Which came out perfect, by the way.
Concern 3: Price
This was a big one. If you'd asked me 2 weeks ago if I was going to drop $350 on cookware, I'd have called you crazy. That's what I earn in a week. But one night, I'm cooking and my teflon pan is flaking. Gross. I grab the cast iron, nearly breaking my wrist and I'm fed up. The search begins and this is wear I really shine. I did days of research to find the best I could afford. That was about half this much. A nice set of Rachel Ray Hard Anodized. At the end of the day, though, it was the reviews that led me to the right choice. People explained to me the difference between an aluminum wrap and just a bottom coating. How much even heat distribution will affect stick and even cooking. How no matter how good, non-stick will lose it's non-stick coating, but stainless will last forever. Up the ladder I went until I found this set. At the price, it's a steal for this quality but it comes to whether you need this particular set. Many people say the pieces are too small. As a singe guy, I find them perfect. I think for a family of 2-3 they would be excellent as well.
Conclusion: The cooking world is now my oyster and I plan on tackling it head on. I've got a list of recipes prepared and these bad boys and I are going to knock 'em out together. If you're looking to give yourself a way to cook and I mean really cook, invest in yourself and invest in some excellent stainless.

My husband and I are slowly replacing our old cookware with investment pieces. We have wanted to try some All-Clad cookware for a long time and so far, it is exceeding our expectations. The pans heat so much more evenly than anything else we own and they really haven't proven to be a pain to clean (which we were sort of expecting). We heeded the advice of the instructions and the reviews from others and keep the heat lower than we normally would..... cook like a dream. I find the weight of the pans to be really nice. I sort of thought that the lids would be heavier. They are very light, but provide a really good seal. Like some of the other reviewers, I bought some Bar Keeper's Friend, but have only had to use it once. I really like this 5 piece set, too because we didn't get a bunch of extra stuff that we really didn't want... and the price was exceptional (black friday sale).

Okay so my wife and I got this set of pots and pans for ourselves for christmas. I guess you could say it was our present to ourselves. As this was our first decent set of cookware we were a little nervous about the price, but wow are they worth every penny. They heat so evenly you never have to turn your burner more than medium. That means that you don't get the ugly black burn marks on the bottom of the pan. We are huge fans or Itailan cusine, so we use a lot of olive oil when we cook, so I'm sure that is why we never have anything stick to them. They look absolutly amazing, The only problem that I have found so far with this cookware is that to keep them looking great I have to shine them a lot. But I use a little bit of BAR KEEPER'S FRIEND every week to shine them up a little bit and they stay looking amazing. We have had ours about six months now and we loved them so much that we went ahead and ordered a 3 qt, 4qt sauce pan, a 12" cover saute pan, and a 12 qt stock pot of the same series. They are worth every penny that you spend on them. You just have to remember that they are not teflon coated so you have to give them a minute to warm up before putting anything on them. Keep stiring or shaking whatever your cooking. But I love them so much. I love cooking and I have always wanted a quality set of pots and pans. I now have them and I will never trade them in. Great buy at any price. Only one other thing that everybody will like to know. You can find this exact set at walmart for about sixty dollars less. just letting you guys know that. But I would recommend them again and again.

CIA Masters Collection 7-Ply Copper Clad Stainless Steel 12 Inch Saute Pan with Helper Handle Review

CIA Masters Collection 7-Ply Copper Clad Stainless Steel 12 Inch Saute Pan with Helper Handle

Actually, I'd wanted a 12 inch All Clad Saute pan, but they don't make a 12 inch saute with a helper handle on the opposite end. This (CIA Masters Collection) pan DOES have one, and is every bit as well made (if not better, since it has an aluminum AND copper core). And like All Clad -- it's hefty -- so when you add food it helps to have the helper handle. It performs flawlessly. I'm glad I found one that meets all my requirements.

Cuisinart 77-10 Chef's Classic Stainless-Steel 10-Piece Cookware Set Review

Cuisinart 77-10 Chef's Classic Stainless-Steel 10-Piece Cookware Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Let me preface this review with the fact that I am Italian and raised 5 children on daily home-cooked meals. The kitchen is the center of my home. So when my daughter got her own apartment out west and asked for a set of pots for Christmas, I wanted to make sure I got her a quality set that would last her for years and years. I knew what I wanted for her, but didn't know which brand to purchase. Non-stick was out (I have never liked it). The pots also had to be both dishwasher/oven safe, and I wanted the pot handles to be riveted into the pot. Off I went to the mall with my "specifications" in hand to look at the different brands and sets available. Boy was I amazed at how many there were! I took my time and examined each set. Not only did I look at the sets, but I also handled the sets. This is VERY important. Many of the quality sets were so heavy that I needed two hands to lift the larger pieces, and although I could lift the smaller saucepans, I had difficulty tilting them to the side to pour. Others had handles that were very uncomfortable to use. Then I came upon the Cuisinart Chef's Classic Stainless 10-piece cookware set. I was very impressed by the quality. They were heavy grade yet easy to handle. They also met my other specifications listed above AND they looked really nice as well. The price of $149 was quite unbelievable. I drove home and ran straight to my computer and ordered the set through Amazon. I got free shipping and had the set delivered directly to my daughter. I also used the holiday bonus coupon for $25 off my order. I was so impressed with the set and the deal Amazon was offering, a few days later I purchased a second set through Amazon for myself. I LOVE them. They cook beautifully on my gas range and clean up well in the dishwasher. The handles DO NOT get hot while cooking, which totally surprised me. Do be careful with the lid handles though. They will get hot if cooking on higher heat. I haven't had a problem with delicate foods burning due to the high thermoconductivity of the pans; however, my stove is a professional grade 6-burner unit. I don't know if that makes any difference or not. All I can say is this set looks great, cooks great, handles great, and sells at a great price. What more can you ask for?

If you've been thinking of investing in a new set of pots and pans, you'd do well to consider Cuisinart Chef's Classic. This set offers pieces in a useful range of size and function, and with the added value of set pricing.

Emeril Stainless Steel Saute Pan Review

Emeril Stainless Steel Saute Pan

I did quite a bit of research about pan types prior to getting this one. It came highly rated from CR and [...]. I've only ever owned nonstick (anodized) before this and of course as with many, the non-stick coating gives up the ghost within about 3 yr. The promise here is that stainless will last nearly as long as cast iron without all of the worries about how to clean it. As recommended, I've used only low to med-heat and only cooked foods that generate their own non-stick (meats, poultry). I've never been able to deglaze before with non-stick - this is pretty cool! Yes, if you're used to non-stick there is quite a bit more that gets stuck to the bottom of the pan (but I've been pretty good about letting it preheat 5 min before putting anything in). But, if you follow the included cleaning instructions (although they appear to be generically written, not just for stainless) it comes mostly clean. I can always make out where the meat was sitting. Then I toss a little barkeeper's friend in there, and BAM (sorry Emeril!) as good as new. Plus, I can cut food up while it's in the pan... try that with non-stick! I've only had it about a month and noted a little discoloration on the bit of copper that is visible on the bottom. But I'm not too worried about discoloration, just performance, and it works great. Of course, if it still works a year from now, I'll get back on here and put another review in.

All-Clad Stainless Simply Soup Set 58170 Review

All-Clad Stainless Simply Soup Set 58170

I hesitated to buy this set because I couldn't believe the price -- $169.95 for the All-Clad stainless 6-qt stockpot, plus two All-Clad ramekins, a ladle and cookbook. I thought perhaps it was a thinner version (as is the case with the 12" covered non-stick fry pan I purchased from Williams-Sonoma recently for $99 -- but love nonetheless because it heats and cooks just as well as my thicker 10" fry pan but is lighter). But this is the real deal! I am so pleased with this purchase. I haven't used the stockpot yet but it is identical to the one in my local Williams-Sonoma store. I love the ramekins. When I get home from work, I have used them to heat up left-overs on my gas stove -- healthier than using the microwave -- and then I eat right from them. They heat the food beautifully and clean up easily, leaving fewer dishes to wash. They are heavy and thick and aesthetically pleasing to look at and hold. The box said that the stockpot was made in the USA (PA) but the stockpot lid, ramekins and ladle are made in China. I've read some reviews complaining about All-Clad items made in China, but I compared the stockpot lid to the lids I already have and noticed no difference in the quality. Same for the ladle (I already had two All-Clad ladles and now I have three sizes -- all of the same excellent quality). This ladle appears to be 4 oz, smaller than the 6-oz ladle that came with the 4-qt soup pot I have (which sells for $134.95). This Simply Soup set is quite a vlaue for the money. I've wanted the 6-qt stockpot but couldn't bring myself to spend the $230 (current price at Williams-Sonoma and elsewhere). For $60 less, I get the stockpot and lid, the ladle, the ramekins, and cookbook. I decided to write this review so others wouldn't wonder about the quality and hesitate to purchase it as I initially did. I purchased the set from Metrokitchen via amazon and it was delivered quickly and shipping was free.
