It was the number one rated roasting pan by Cooks Illustrated magazine a few years ago, and it went on my list of "someday I will buy this". What scared me off for so long was the price tag . . . (all that money) for a roasting pan!
Well, when this offer came about with the roasting pan, rack and oven mits for (less money), I knew the time had come.
My test came with Thanksgiving. I roasted the big old 20 lb. turkey with the kit. Now, as far as the turkey is concerned, I guess any roasting pan and rack would be fine to make a decent bird. The high quality pan comes into focus in two key areas: safety and gravy.
Safety: This pan is very heavy duty, the bird won't tip the pan when you reposition it to brown all sides.
Gravy: The aluminum core conducts heat so well that my reduction produced probably the finest gravy I have ever made.
The oven mits are not the greatest, there are better ones out there, but the roasting rack is pretty good, I didn't pre-grease it and the bird still did not stick. I would have preferred a roasting rack that keeps the bird a little higher off the bottom of the pan though.
The other item that made this a 4 star rather than a 5 star review is the handles. They get in the way when trying to pull out a large turkey, and my husband burned himself.
If great taste is important to you, and you are a good cook who will use a roasting pan a lot, I think you will be very happy with this product.

It's kind of like buying your first sofa; purchasing a real roasting pan (tin foil ones from the grocery store don't count) is a marker for adulthood. Don't trust those special occasions and holiday gatherings to inferior cookware. After all you're not just making good food, you're making memories.
