(More customer reviews)This is a great deal. This set is manufactured in France, whereas the enamel coated steel Le Creuset pots and pans are manufactured in the far east with about 1/3 the quality, but for a much cheaper price.
Le Creuset enamel coated cast iron is among the best cookware my family has used. My wife likes it even better than the 1930's era 16 piece set of Revere Ware she had inherited from her grandmother, which is world class cookware itself, and now-a-days, a collector's item.
We have several various pots and pans that we have purchased over time from Calphalon and All Clad, but for versatility, even heat distribution, functionality, easy clean up, lifetime guarantee, style and elegance, and beautiful colors to fit in any decor, you can't beat Le Creuset. My wife has been using these pots every day since May of 2007, and they look just like they did when we first brought them home.
They are easy to clean because of the enamel coating, and being cast iron they are a bit on the heavy side, but being cast iron they are extremely durable and don't warp or bend out of shape like some aluminum, steel or copper pots and pans.
This company has many pots and pans that you may add to this special starter set, but expect to pay up to twice as much, on a piece to piece basis, as you are paying per piece in this set.
I have added five more pieces of Le Creuset cast iron cookware to this initial set since last year, and my wife loves every one of them.
Do yourself a great favor and replace all of your old cookware with the Le Creuset cast iron cookware. Not only will you love it, but it is of such quality and durability that you'll be proud to pass it down to your children.

A thoughtful gift idea for newlyweds or anyone setting up a first-time kitchen, this five-piece cookware set from Le Creuset provides three commonly used pieces for everyday cooking. The assortment consists of a 1-1/4-quart precision-pour saucepan with lid, a 3-1/2-quart round French oven with lid, and a 9-inch iron-handle skillet. Use the saucepan for making homemade marinara, the French oven for cooking vegetable soup or a slew of chili, and the skillet for making grilled cheese sandwiches, silver-dollar pancakes, and more--its wide cooking surface and gently curved sides make it easy to flip food before sliding it gracefully from the pan to a plate.
As part of Le Creuset's line of enameled cast iron, the cookware's exterior features a colorful, long-lasting enamel that resists chipping and cracking, while its durable, nonreactive sand-colored enamel interior offers a smooth surface for cooking and an optimal palette for food presentation (the iron-handle skillet comes with a satin black interior). As cast iron is unexcelled for even heat distribution and superior heat retention, and enamel is impervious to acids and odors, the pieces cook food uniformly and gently without hot spots and can be used for marinating, cooking on the stovetop, or finishing in the oven. Thoughtfully designed, the saucepan provides a rounded handle and opposite helper handle; the French oven offers two loop side handles, and the skillet comes with an iron handle with an opposite helper handle--as well as two nondrip spouts for convenient mess-free pouring. Both the French oven and the saucepan supply tight-fitting lids, each with a phenolic knob that stays cool on the stovetop and can withstand an oven's heat to 350 degrees F. Though dishwasher-safe, the cookware should be hand washed for best results.
What's in the Box 5-piece cookware set. The set includes: 1-1/4-quart saucepan with lid; 3-1/2-quart round French oven with lid; 9-inch iron-handle skillet. 5 pieces total.
