Emerilware Pro Clad Stainless Steel Tri-Ply 12-Piece Cookware Set Review

I'm just a guy who likes to cook. The Berndes teflon sauce pans that I've been using for years were starting to deteriorate, and I knew I wanted to replace them with a set of stainless steel clad cookware. As much as my ego wanted All Clad or Demeyere, I just couldn't justify the cost. After a lot of research and store trips, I decided on the Calphalon Tri-Ply set. Deciding to make one last attempt to kill any buyer's remorse, I made one more trip to Bed Bath and Beyond just to be sure. That's when I spotted the Emerilware Pro-Clad set (this is the fully-clad line, not the original line with the heavy disk welded to the bottom). I should say I'm not really a fan of Emeril -- he's just another TV personality to me. I rarely watch his shows, and I've never eaten in his restaurants. If anything, I'm the kind of person who would avoid celebrity endorsed products.
Enough with the caveats. I wasn't crazy about the handles on the Calphalon set. Too skinny and short for my hands. When I grabbed the Emerilware sauce pan, it was instantly very comfortable in my hand. The handle is much beefier than pretty much any other SS cookware I picked up. Performance-wise, the handles stay cool on the stovetop (I have a glasstop). Even the loop handles on the stockpot were cool enough to pick up and drain a pot of spaghetti. Love the handles. The pieces have a slight heft to them without being unwieldy. I have a couple of old monster fry pans, and these are very easy to manage in comparison. Good weight and balance. Also, liquids pour nicely off the rolled lip.
I've had no problem adjusting to SS after using teflon for a lot of years. I use olive oil or canola oil, and have had no problem with food sticking or burning. I love the saute pan for searing steaks, chicken, and pork chops, then throwing it into the hot oven to finish. Back on the stovetop (using a pot holder, duh), a little bit of chicken broth or wine deglazes the pan and makes a quick an easy sauce. I find that I use all of the pieces in the set on a regular basis. The steamer is useful as we prefer to steam our veggies. If you follow the instructions and keep an eye on the heat, these things clean up with absolutely no problem. Any residual discoloration or stubborn bits come right off with Barkeepers Friend.
I deducted one star for the following small gripes: I would have preferred SS lids instead of glass, even though I haven't run into any drawbacks with the glass. Next, the Pro-Clad line is somewhat limited compared to other brands. I picked up the largest (3 qt) saucepan to round out the set -- I would have preferred a 4 qt with an extra loop handle, but it' not offered. I'm hoping the manufacturer adds other choices to the line over time. It would be nice to have a matching saucier or wok, for instance. Lastly, I've noticed that the frying pan is warped very slightly, maybe 1/16", so that it rocks a little bit on the glasstop. I didn't notice if it came out of the box this way, or warped slightly from the heat of the stove. It doesn't seem to affect the performance anyway. All of the other pieces are perfectly flat on the bottom. I inspected all of the pieces for burrs, and found them all to be perfectly smooth.
In summary, my wife and I are really pleased with our purchase of the Emerilware Pro-Clad set. It works great and looks great. We expect them to give us many years of great food.

I and my wife were travelling to Canada last year, there was a specialty store selling cookware and kitchen appliances right outside London Drugs. They have both All-clad and Duxtop cookware on display. My wife had been wanting an All-clad cookware set for a long time. But for the 15 mins we spent in the store we kinda of wondering which one is a better buy. Allclad is definitely worth every penny you spend on it. The duxtop set ... we just couldn't find anything second to Allclad quality wise. There are a few features of duxtop we actually think win over allclad. The drip-free pouring rims on duxtop, you did not find it on all clad. The handle of duxtop felt more comfortable. Both of the handles were made of stainless steel. All clad handle was designed for easy grip, but they have only a thin layer of steel. Duxtop's handles use more steel, and it definitely made some difference and we both felt it helped to keep balance. We both liked duxtop more but decided to do more research before purchasing. Neither all clad or duxtop were cheap. We are so glad Amazon has duxtop cookware on sale. They replaced our 4 year old stainless steel cookware and we are very satisfied with the product.

Emeril Pro-Clad Stainless 8-Inch Fry Pan Review

Emeril Pro-Clad Stainless 8-Inch Fry Pan
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I received this pan for free via a promotion here at amazon. If you bought $300 or over in emerilware, you received this and a 10" cast iron grill pan for free. The grill pan imediately went into my camp/survival kit since I can't use cast iron on my glass top stove, and since cast iron works amazing with a campfire. The 12" tri-ply pan this review is about, is the best pan I've ever owned. Let me share why!
I own the full 10 piece emerilware pro-clad set. This is a larger pan that the set does not include. The pan itself is flawless in construction. The handle is shaped right to divert heat so you do not need a hotpad holder while cooking on the stove. The full tri-ply construction seamlessly melds an aluminum core between two layers of stainless steel for optimal heat spread. it is priced very reasonable, considering this pan is made by all-clad, who sells an idenically constructed pan for far more money. You're essentially getting all-clad quality for a bargain price.
There's a lot of caveats to owning a stainless steel pan over a non-stick. There are also a lot of advantages. cooking on stainless steel is different than non-stick. You won't make eggs in stainless steel. anyone who tries A) doesn't own a nonstick pan, or B) is a stainless steel fan who can't admit the limitations of the pan. Stainless steel is designed to stick! that's why we make meats and other savory dishes in stainless steel. after its cooked, we have all those wonderful bits on the bottom! we deglaze with wine or broth, and can reduce the liquid and make a sauce or gravy out of it. You can't do that with nonstick. For making Eggs, flatbreads, corn and four tortillas, pancakes, and especially creppes, I still will use my old trusty 10" nonstick skillet. While I may be able to cook some of those items in stainless steel, I'd have to use a large amount of grease to prevent sticking. I can just pam spray my nonstick and go for less calories and less headaches.
Some people also complain stainless steel is harder to clean. high temperature paints a rainbow over your pan, and things that stick can be hard to unstick without using abrasives that will scratch the pans. It's easy if you know two great products.
1) distilled white vinegar. This will take off all rainbow effects and waterspots, and disifects as well! I always keep a spraybottle of the stuff in the kitchen for sanitizing surfaces and pans.
2) for restoring the shine to your stainless steel, and getting hard to get out stains, try barkeeper's friend: cookware version. This version can be bought from the barkeeper's friend website (just do a google, I don't think I'm permitted to link outside amazon in reviews even if amazon doesn't carry the product). The cookware version is formulated to not scratch your pans and makes them look new. leading stainless steel makers like allclad and calpheon all reccomend this product to clean. Infact, I just received a 4pack of the 12oz bottles in the mail today.
Overall, I think you can't go wrong buying any emerilware pro-clad pan. Its quality stainless steel at a great price.

Emerilware Stainless 3-Quart Covered Saucepan with Loop Handle Review

Emerilware Stainless 3-Quart Covered Saucepan with Loop Handle
Average Reviews:

Emerilware is a great stepping-stone in cookware between the common store bought stuff and the extravagantly priced All-Clad type cookware. It is perfect for me. As a matter of fact I Like the slightly lighter weight of the Emeril line as apposed to the All-Clad. The only thing that I don't like is that I noticed the newer pieces from the last six months or so are made overseas. I don't recall that they were before. The heavy bottom is great for even cooking. The sides are heavy enough I have not dented one yet. I am a long time fan of cast Iron cooking, but it is nice to ad to my collection something that looks nice as well as perform well at a reasonable cost.

Emeril Lagasse and All-Clad, a dynamic duo to be sure! Following on the success of his first line of cookware, Emeril kicks it up another notch with a stainless steel collection. As any professional knows, stainless is not the best conductor of heat, so Emeril's stainless has a copper and aluminum sandwich on the bottom to improve the pan's ability to conduct heat quickly and evenly. A tempered glass lid self-bastes the food within, and allows you to keep an eye on the cooking process without interrupting it. Beautiful to look at, easy to care for, and backed by a lifetime warranty, Emerilware stainless is a boon to any cook. You might use this sauce pan to parboil potatoes, cook grains, or make a cream soup.

Cuisinart 77-7 Chef's Classic Stainless 7-Piece Cookware Set Review

Cuisinart 77-7 Chef's Classic Stainless 7-Piece Cookware Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this set about six weeks ago am very pleased with it to date. I enjoy cooking and cook most meals "from scratch," rarely relying on anything pre-packaged for a meal, so these pots and pans get a workout on a daily basis. Since purchasing them I've cooked dishes from oatmeal to pork tenderloin, squash soup to rice pilaf.
The set is good looking, the lids fit perfectly, the pot handles are comfortable to grip even with a full pot (much better than my one Calphalon pan). In my kitchen, if it isn't dishwasher safe, it is evicted, and these pots and pans do just fine in the dishwasher, unlike the aforementioned Calphalon. The pans are satisfyingly weighty, yet well balanced and the long pot handles stay cool to the touch (unless they are too close to another burner or the oven vent). The lid handles do get hot, but I always have a potholder handy.
Cooking: I find the cookware is very responsive to my gas range; the pans conduct heat very efficiently and it is essential when using these pans to keep that in mind. I recommend starting with a lower temperature than you think you need and increasing the heat if necessary until you become accustomed to the way the pans respond to heat. The pans heat very evenly, I've successfully melted chocolate with no burning on the lowest heat setting, and rice cooks perfectly at a low simmer with the lid firmly in place. I prefer these over non-stick pans when sautéing, these pans allow good browning which leaves yummy bits behind for deglazing into a sauce; these pans perform well in that capacity. The rolled rims mean liquids pour driplessly from the pan, a feature I find extremely valuable. The entire set is oven safe and I find that also an excellent feature. You can quickly sear a pork tenderloin and then pop the skillet right in the oven to roast it to perfection. One less dish to clean, all the cooked-on bits in one pan to deglaze.
Cleaning: I have not had any problems with cleaning the pans after use. Following the manufacturers recommendation, I add a little water to the warm pan and leave it to soak in the sink during dinner. Then the pan is loaded in the dishwasher with the rest of the dishes. Occasionally food may stick around the rivets, but the dishwasher usually takes care of that with ease. The manufacturer suggests avoiding citrus dishwashing products so I do. The mirror like finish is beautiful, but this is actually my least favorite feature of the set. Fingerprints and water spots show up readily. This in no way interferes with the cooking value of the set, but if you are concerned with the way the set looks, this is a flaw. If you must have it, a quick wipe with Barkeepers Friend or Cameo polish will restore the mirror finish.
The set includes a 1-1/2- & 3-quart saucepan, 8-quart stockpot, and 10-inch skillet. Lids for the saucepans and stockpot are included. I received the bonus 2-quart sautee pan with my set which has proved very useful. I would have preferred a 12 inch skillet to the 10 inch but even so I find the set an excellent value. I saw no need of an 8 inch skillet which is why I chose this set instead of the 10 piece set. I hope Cuisinart will be adding to the open stock available in this line. I have the 16-quart stockpot with steamer basket and pasta insert, but would love to find a pasta insert and steamer for the 8 quart stock-pot.
I think this set is an excellent value, and will satisfy me for years to come treated with a bit of care. I am replacing a set of Copper-bottomed Revere Ware my mother received as a wedding gift in 1950 (and used daily until she gave them to me 20 years ago), and I am hoping these will last as long, if not longer.

BergHOFF Earthchef Premium Copper Clad 10-Piece Cookware Set Review

BergHOFF Earthchef Premium Copper Clad 10-Piece Cookware Set
Average Reviews:

This cookware was stated to be great for glass top stoves and " would never warp " ...unfortunately mine came slightly warped right out of the box. I called customer service and they were polite, and when asked if they were supposed to be perfectly flat he said yes and to return them if they werent. I opted for a refund and not a replacement. The sides of the stock pot are very thin as well as the other pans walls. They did boil water fairly quickly. Also, one reason I chose this set is because BergHoff is a Belgium company and I was under the impression that these were made in Belgium. When asked, the customer service representative could only say that they had plants all over the world and had no way of knowing where they were made. I'm trying not to buy stuff made in China and he said that it was possible they could have been made there. There was no indication where they were made either on the pans themselves or the box. The bottom of the pan did say BergHoff Belgium, but not made in Belgium. They were not packaged very well and I could hear pans rattling, although none were damaged. Being this is the first review of this set I feel bad giving such a negative impression, but its my honest assessment of this product and I feel that one of the strengths of amazon is the reviews, I find them to be very helpful.

Emerilware All-clad Hard Anodized Nonstick 23-piece Cookware Set

My girlfriend and I have recently moved in together and have double sets, one is this set, the other a Wal-Mart Stainless Steel set.
This set is much more efficient and enjoyable to cook with, it is light weight, durable, and heats up quick on both gas and electric stoves. Need to make sure to use plastic/wood utensils since metal will scratch the surface, and to set the heat to medium at the highest as it will cause the cookware to overheat. Other than habit changing on my part, this has been great cookware that I would buy again.
