(More customer reviews)This IS a kitchen essential. I have two. This is the pot you grab for every little thing: heating up a can of soup, frozen veggies, straining gravy in to, anything. This and the next size up, are musts in every kitchen. Cleans easily and stays nice and shiny. I got all of mine years ago for a wedding present and it was my favorite present and still is, I use them always. I have since acquired Le Creuset and All-Clad, and I love them too, but THESE are the tried and true pots you don't have to think about damaging or how do I clean it, or will I scratch it. Good buy for the money too.

Functional as well as beautiful, this 1-quart saucepan is made of heavy 18/10 stainless steel polished to a mirror finish. The pan has an aluminum core in its base to spread heat quickly and evenly. The core is completely clad in stainless steel so, like the rest of the pan, the bottom resists corrosion and discoloring and cleans up easily. Thick rolled rims add durability and make it possible to pour from the pan without dripping. Because the pan comes with a domed lid that self-bastes foods it can be used for reheating a portion or two of cassoulet or macaroni and cheese on the stovetop or in the oven without drying it out.

(More customer reviews)After using the same pots and pans for 40 year, decided it was time to purchase a new set. Seemed like a good Christmas present.
Went to the internet to seek all the information I could find and made my decision. Coupon in hand I went to the store and discovered my choice for stainless cookware was much to heavy and it was empty.
Suddenly, rivted handles were not as important as weight. I had to start over and set about lifting all the stainless cookware to determine which would give me some weight without being too heavy. I don't know if this is a "senior" problem or if everyone finds some cookware very heavy.
Decided on the Farberware Millenium soft touch stainless and have not regretted my decision. I have the even cooking of the encapsulated bottom, I have the riveted handles that are never hot, I have the choice of putting them in the dishwasher and I have the option of using them in the oven.
All of my requirements have been met.

(More customer reviews)I have always liked the Farberware cookware for over 30 years. The steel pots are perfect. I am not crazy about the non-stick ones, wish they had covers too, and a bit heavier. Besides, I don't care for non-stick surface as much because it could leave toxins after a scratch. I like the glass lids, they are easier to clean. The size of most pots in this set is fairly small which you may not realize from the size provided in quarts, but appropriate for a small household's kitchen. Overall, it's a pretty good quality set for the price compared to all those other brands with highly inflated prices.
